Child Care Yearbook
For Child Care providers
Type: For Child Care providers   Skills: Professional DevelopmentSocial & Emotional Skills
Just like traditional yearbooks, a yearbook is a photo documentation of what’s taken place in your child care program throughout the years. It’s a great tool when you have prospective parents come by to visit. It also helps the parents of the children you already have in your care to see what goes on with their kids throughout the day. How-To
Throughout the year, take candid photos of activities at your child care. These can be photos of the kids at play, pictures of the children’s artwork, or snapshots taken at a special event or celebration (for instance, Parent’s Day or Halloween).

Remember to take photos which not only demonstrate the wide range of activities you provide throughout the year, but any special services you offer that may distinguish you from other child cares.

Affix the photos in your photo album and be sure to label the pictures with captions describing the activity or event. If you don’t want to buy a photo album, you can make your own, simply using construction paper and some yarn to bind together your handmade album. Or you can use a three ring binder and insert pages of clear sheet protectors to create an expandable photo album.

When you meet with prospective parents, have the photo yearbook available for them to peruse. Nothing tells a story like a great photo. It can really be an effective way for prospective clients to see all the care you provide. Be prepared to tell stories to describe the experiences in the pictures.

Photo yearbooks are not only great in attracting new clients, but they are also a good way to remind parents of the children already in your care all the activities and services you provide.

Finally, the photos can be a fantastic way to get kids excited about upcoming activities you have planned. If a child is new in your care and wasn’t around to participate in last year’s Easter Egg Hunt, the photos in your album can be a great way to show them what to anticipate.
